Power Outage at City’s Short-Term Shelter
Patrons Moved to Second Location
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A power outage has forced the City’s short-term shelter at the American Bank Center to move to another location.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department and Parks and Recreation Department transferred 130 patrons in City vans to the FEMA Dome located at Del Mar College - West Campus, 4244 Old Brownsville Road.
The short-term shelter is open to anyone and can accommodate 150 men, women, and families. Patrons will undergo a temperature check upon entry. Social distancing will be enforced, and masks will be provided and must always be worn. Other Center for Disease Control COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
Meals and water will be provided onsite.
Pets are not allowed but volunteers are on-call to transport pets to be kenneled at the Gulf Coast Humane Society until they can be reunited with their owners.
