Packery Channel Jetty Reopened for Public Use

Callan Marine, Ltd., Working on Recovery Plan with Coast Guard

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Effective immediately, the City of Corpus Christi’s Parks and Recreation Department will be re-opening the Packery Channel jetty for public access. It was initially closed for safety reasons as part of the barge recovery effort.

Currently, the contractor is working with the United States Coast Guard to develop an acceptable recovery plan. In the interim, the jetty will be reopened for public use. Once a recovery plan is approved, the jetty will be shut down again while work is completed. The City will provide another update at that time.

The public is encouraged not to engage with the barge. Surfers will not be allowed to utilize the jetty as an entry location into the water.
