New Water Storage Tanks Under Construction
If you've driven along Holly Road near Everhart Road recently you've probably noticed the tall tower. A new elevated water storage tank is being built, one of four in the City. The others will be located at Rand Morgan Road, Starry Lane and Nueces Bay Boulevard. The new tanks are needed to meet the storage capacity requirements set fourth by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The water will be used for drinking water and will aid in maintaining water pressure in the distribution system.
The existing elevated storage tanks will be placed out of service and torn down. The Holly and Rand Morgan tanks are scheduled for completion in February 2018. The two others should be constructed by September 2020.
The project is being funded as part of the City's Capital Improvements Program.
