Market Days at Heritage Park on May 21

Event to Support the Local Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Come support local vendors selling their arts and crafts, while enjoying musical entertainment at Market Days on May 21 from 9am to 3pm in beautiful Heritage Park, located at 1581 N. Chaparral Street. The vendors will be selling jewelry, scented candles, containers, accessories, home décor and so much more, as well as monogramming.

This event is hosted by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Advisory Board of the City of Corpus Christi to support local Senior Corps volunteer service programs.

The City of Corpus Christi’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is made up of 391 active volunteers who serve 37 volunteer stations. In 2015, volunteers completed 46,353.47 hours of service at local school districts and non-profit agencies within Nueces County.

Established in 1971 and now one of the largest senior volunteer organizations in the nation, RSVP engages more than 296,000 people age 55 and older in a diverse range of volunteer activities. Volunteers serve their communities in many other ways. RSVP volunteers choose how, where, and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. Eligibility is open to all persons age 55 and older.

Senior Corps helps meet the needs and challenges of America’s communities through grants and other resources, including the energy and efforts on citizens age 55 and older. Grants administered through Senior Corps provide funding for RSVP.

RSVP is sponsored by the City of Corpus Christi and operates under the Parks & Recreation Department. For more information about this program and how to become a volunteer, please visit the Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department website at www.ccparkandrec.com (click ‘Senior Services’).
