CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi – Nueces County Public Health District has confirmed a local health care worker has tested positive for COVID-19. The patient had traveled out of the country, self-quarantined for 14 days, and was non-symptomatic when testing positive. Health District staff are actively conducting investigation efforts to trace the workers interactions as they have worked in multiple area long-term care facilities. Each facility has taken extra precautionary measures to safeguard the health and well-being of the residents and staff.

The Health District is working very closely with each facility and the State of Texas to facilitate testing and if needed the rapid response team coordinated through the State. Long-term care facilities have heightened safety protocol for COVID-19 as those individuals are considered high risk for the virus. Many long-term facilities now limit personnel working in multiple facilities in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.
