CORPUS CHRISTI TX – In early July, the Health District received notification of a Nueces County baby, less than 6-months of age, that was diagnosed with COVID-19 and later passed away.

The baby was admitted to the hospital with respiratory like symptoms, treated, and later discharged home.

Approximately a week after being discharged, the baby was found to be unresponsive at home and subsequently passed away. Due to the nature of this case, an autopsy was ordered to discover the cause of death.

The Health District has now received the Medical Examiner's final report. The details regarding the autopsy from the Medical Examiner will be shared with the public on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 5:00 PM by our Local Health Authority, Dr. Ramachandruni MD.
