Freeze Warning Issued for South Texas Region
City to Open Warming Centers
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A cold front that has moved through the region this morning with dry and colder air is expected to result in freezing temperatures overnight.
Areas of South Texas inland of the Coastal Bend may experience temperatures dropping below freezing after midnight through Saturday morning. Northeast winds around 10 to 15 MPH will drop wind chills into the mid-teens. Freezing precipitation is not expected.
Residents are urged to protect people, property, pets, and plants.
The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority will provide free transportation to and from the warming center during available hours. For more information, go to https://www.ccrta.org.
Homeless Shelters:
The City is working with homeless agencies to ensure shelter, meals, and blankets are provided for homeless individuals.
The Salvation Army and Good Samaritan Rescue Mission will increase their overnight capacity for people experiencing homelessness.
Daytime Warming Centers:
The City will offer daytime warming centers that are free and open to the public. The hours of operation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
