Flour Bluff Area Development Plan Adopted

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo and the City Council approved the Flour Bluff Area Development Plan. The City of Corpus Christi Planning Department and urban planners from the firm Freese and Nichols worked with the community to create the Flour Bluff Area Development Plan. The purpose of the plan is to serve as a guidebook for development and public investment based on a unified community vision for the Flour Bluff area.  Plans like these help the City to be more strategic in decision-making.

This planning effort gave the Flour Bluff community an opportunity to discuss the issues facing their neighborhoods and to discuss a path forward to achieving their desired vision for the future.  The planning team offered a variety of public input opportunities to ensure the plan was rooted in the community’s vision. The Flour Bluff community provided vital input by participating in three online surveys, three online community meetings, two online open house events, and focus group meetings. An Advisory Committee of community members representing the area’s residents, business owners, and other stakeholders was created at the start of the project to guide the development of the plan. The Committee’s active participation was essential to the development of the final plan, which will go before the City Council for a second vote on June 22.

“By moving forward the Flour Bluff Development Plan today, our City Council launched a new strategic action for Flour Bluff’s future. This plan is an integral part of our comprehensive plan that will allow for planned growth and infrastructure development,” said Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo.

The City thanks the Flour Bluff community for their engagement throughout the process of creating the Plan.
