Fishing Adventure for Special Needs Children

Recently, the Parks and Recreation Department's Beach Operations partnered with the organization "Catch a Special Thrill" (CAST) to provide fun in the sun for special needs children.

Last Saturday, 48 kids and 35 volunteers participated in the fishing adventure at the north jetty of Packery Channel. Kids were paired with an angling buddy and received their own rod and reel, a tackle box with supplies, and a t-shirt.

CAST is a youth program that introduces children with disabilities to the joys of fishing.
