First 2017 City Employee of the Quarter Selected
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Deborah Henry could hardly contain her excitement after learning she was selected by her peers as the 2017 Employee of the First Quarter. "I thank God for this. I truly believe he created me to help those in need, I love my job," Henry said.
The Parks and Recreation Department Senior Centers Lead has worked for the City for 25 years. The benefits counselor assists people with signing up for Medicare and getting access to programs that help those with the most economic need.
"Seniors love her, she has a positive rapport with members and keeps them engaged in activities," Senior Community Services Director Lisa Oliver said.
Henry has also used her Heimlich maneuver training to save two members who were choking at the Ethel Eyerly Senior Center. Her life-saving actions occurred within a two week period.
The other nominees included Utilities Systems Manager William Creech, Emergency Management Coordinator Billy Delgado, Executive Assistant Nicole Prestwood, and Air Conditioning Maintenance Mechanic II Paul Rodriguez.
