Fire Chief Honors Firefighter and Prevention Officer of the Year

Today, Fire Chief Robert Rocha recognized two veteran firefighters with one of the department’s highest honors. These recipients are nominated by field personnel and the award is based on their commitment and service to citizens and the City of Corpus Christi. 

Firefighter I Paramedic Arturo (Art) Caceres was chosen as the 2016 Firefighter of the Year. Caceres joined the department in 1993. He is assigned to Fire Station #7 located on Staples Street. The 22-year veteran of the department exhibits an unselfish manner when performing his duties and serves as a role model for probationary firefighters.            

Firefighter II Inspector Brian Rogers received the 2016 Prevention Officer of the Year. Inspector Rogers has been with the department since 1992. He joined the Prevention Bureau in 2002, where he also serves on a team that facilitates evacuations during emergency situations. 

These two officers have more than 45 years of dedication combined. Today’s awards were presented at Fire Department Headquarters located at 2406 Leopard St. on the third floor. For additional information contact Captain James Brown at (361) 826-8423.
