Fiesta De La Flor Traffic Plan

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has partnered with the City's Traffic Engineering Office, the Corpus Christi Police Department and the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) to create a traffic plan for Fiesta de la Flor. 

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office advises residents there will be traffic changes related to the Fiesta de la Flor event scheduled for Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, 2017. On both days, there will be significant parking restrictions including:

  • NO street parking will be allowed around the event site. Violators will be towed.

  • American Bank Center parking will be reserved for events occurring in its venue.

  • Fiesta goers are strongly encouraged to use the Park and Ride service operating to serve the event.

To accommodate event set up and tear down, these changes will be phased in beginning on Monday March 20, and extending through the afternoon of Sunday, March 26, 2017. There are a number of changes and the best way to be informed is to look at the specific dates and the changes listed under those dates. Changes that will be continued and will be repeated on later dates as appropriate.

Monday, March 20 -  Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 7 am to 7 pm:

  • Southbound IH 37 center and right lanes will be forced to turn right to southbound Shoreline Boulevard and the left lane will be open to allow access to northbound Shoreline Boulevard.

  • Northbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes at Mann Street and then reduced to one lane at IH-37.

  • North and southbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be closed between Resaca Street & Power Street.

  • North and southbound lanes of Water Street will be closed between Resaca Street & Palo Alto Street.

  • East and westbound lanes of Fitzgerald Street will be closed between N. Chaparral Street & Shoreline Boulevard (access to Fitzgerald Street will be monitored and managed by American Bank Center parking staff during events.)

  • Resaca Street will remain open to access the barge dock, the Art Museum of South Texas, Hester’s Cafe and additional American Bank Center parking.

Wednesday, March 22  –  Friday, March 24, 2017, 7 am - 7 pm:

  • Southbound IH 37 center and right lanes will be forced to turn right to southbound Shoreline Boulevard and the left lane will be open to allow access to northbound Shoreline Boulevard.

  • Northbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes at Mann Street and then reduced to one lane at IH-37.

  • North and southbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be closed between Resaca Street and Power Street.

  • North and southbound lanes of Water Street will be closed between Resaca Street & Palo Alto Street.

  • East and westbound lanes of Fitzgerald Street will be closed between N. Chaparral Street and Shoreline Boulevard (access to Fitzgerald Street will be monitored and managed by American Bank Center parking staff during events.)

  • Barge dock access will be closed.

  • East and westbound lanes of Resaca Street will be closed between N. Water Street and Shoreline Boulevard to thru traffic with local access only traffic allowed.

  • East and westbound lanes of Palo Alto Street will be closed between N. Water Street and Shoreline Boulevard.

Friday, March 24, 2017 at  7 am (with additional changes beginning at 3 pm and 5 pm as indicated below) through the afternoon of Sunday, March 26, 2017:

  • Southbound IH 37 center and right lanes will be forced to turn right to southbound Shoreline Boulevard and until 3 pm. The left lane will be open to allow access to northbound Shoreline Boulevard. Until 3 pm, northbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes at Mann Street and then reduced to one lane at IH-37.

    • Beginning at 3 pm on Friday, March 23 and through Sunday afternoon, March 26,  2017, northbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be closed at IH-37 and left turns onto northbound Shoreline Boulevard from IH-37 will be restricted.

  • North and southbound lanes of Shoreline Boulevard will be closed between Resaca Street and Power Street.

  • Northbound Water Street will be closed at Power Street to thru traffic with local access traffic only allowed.

  • East and westbound lanes of Resaca Street will be closed at Chaparral Street (access to Resaca Street will be monitored and managed by American Bank Center parking staff during events.)

  • East and westbound lanes of Fitzgerald Street will be closed between N. Chaparral Street and Shoreline Boulevard (access to Fitzgerald Street will be monitored and managed by American Bank Center parking staff during events.)

  • East and westbound Palo Alto Street will be closed at Chaparral Street. Local traffic will have access through Water Street.

  • Eastbound Power Street will be closed at Chaparral Street. Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Power Street will be closed between Mesquite Street and Chaparral Street.

  • East and westbound lanes of Palo Alto Street and Fitzgerald Street will be closed between Mesquite Street & Chaparral Street.

  • Eastbound Hughes Street and eastbound Brewster’s Street will be closed at Mesquite Street.

  • Southbound lanes of Chaparral Street will be closed at the intersection with Hirsch Street.

  • Beginning at 5 pm on Friday March 24, through Sunday afternoon, March 26, 2017, Belden Street access at Chaparral Street will be restricted to ONLY Park & Ride buses, talent buses, handicap pickup and drop-off, Federal Courthouse personnel, and Port of CC personnel.

  • Fiesta goers are strongly encouraged to use the Park and Ride service.
