Downtown Gateways Vision Plan Virtual Public Meeting and Online Survey

Help shape the future of key gateways to Downtown Corpus Christi!

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi would like to hear your thoughts on improving the entrances to Downtown Corpus Christi along Interstate 37 and Laredo/Agnes Streets. The City is working with the urban planning firm Asakura Robinson and will use community input to develop a vision plan for former and current highway infrastructure, key entryways, and the surrounding public areas in the downtown area.

A variety of new projects are changing the public realm, particularly the new Harbor Bridge project and associated changes to Interstate 37. This project will engage stakeholders and the public to take advantage of this key opportunity in Downtown’s evolution, push forth implementation efforts from recently completed plans, and creatively improve the public experience for those living in and visiting Downtown Corpus Christi.

As part of the first phase of public engagement, the City is hosting a virtual public meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. Participants can attend online or by phone, and the meeting will be available in English and Spanish. The project team will also introduce an online survey designed to engage the community in identifying the plan’s vision and goals.

All residents, business owners, property owners, and visitors of the Corpus Christi Downtown area are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn more about the project, existing conditions, and offer input on opportunities for improving these entrances to Downtown. The Asakura Robinson team will begin the presentation at 5:30 p.m. and participants will be able to submit their questions and provide feedback in writing through the Zoom Webinar platform.

In adherence with Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s declaration of a public health emergency and public safety guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this meeting will be held online only.
