Corpus Christi Gulf Prepares for Rip Tides Caused by Tropical Cyclone Heading Toward Louisiana
City Urges Extreme Caution for Beachgoers
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX –Beginning Friday, Corpus Christi gulf beaches anticipate moderate to high risks for rip currents to continue through Sunday, June 20. Tropical Cyclone Three heading toward Louisiana will remain east of Corpus Christi but will have some coastal effects on our gulf beaches.
There will be a moderate chance for rip currents today. For Saturday, the rip current risk will be high. A moderate rip current risk may linger into Sunday.
Gulf Beaches will remain fully staffed with lifeguards to observe beach conditions and visitors.
The safety of our beach visitors is one of the City’s top priorities. City staff urges the patrons of the beaches to stay informed of the Beach Flag Warning System. The Beach Flag Warning system is comprised of a daily color-coded flag status to indicate surf conditions, the presence of venomous marine life, and any other air/water quality-related hazards. Daily updates of the City’s beach flag status can be found on the “Corpus Christi Beaches” Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/CCBeaches/
