Closure at Staples Street and Morgan Avenue for Utility Repair

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi advises motorists of the closure at the Staples Street and Morgan Avenue intersection that occurred from an unexpected utility repair. City contractors will be working at the intersection starting Wednesday, June 14 through Thursday, June 15.

While the closure is in place, the following traffic control plan will be implemented:

Northbound Staples Street: Northbound Staples Street will be closed to through traffic at the Elizabeth Street intersection giving access only to the South Texas Medical Associates and local businesses.

Southbound Staples Street: Southbound Staples Street traffic will be detour west onto Morgan Avenue, then south to Alameda Street, to Elizabeth Street and back to Staples Street.

Eastbound Morgan Avenue: Eastbound Morgan Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic through the Staples Street intersection. No Left Turns will be allowed.

Westbound Morgan Avenue:  Westbound Morgan Avenue is closed between Alameda Street and Staples Street. Traffic will detour south onto Alameda Street, east onto Elizabeth Street, north onto Seventh Street, then to Morgan Avenue.

Alameda Street:  No Left Turns will be allowed from southbound Alameda Street to Morgan Avenue. No Right Turns will be allowed from northbound Alameda Street to Morgan Avenue.

 

Traffic Control devices will guide motorists through the work site. Motorists should expect delays and if possible, seek alternate routes or avoid the area.
