City’s Homelessness Division Educating Leadership of Homeless Shelters on COVID-19

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City’s Homelessness and Housing Division is providing education to local homeless shelter leadership and shelter occupants to ensure the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines are understood and preparations are made for COVID19.

City staff provided guidance on best practices to Homeless Issues Partnership (consisting of 30+ homeless providers). These included consideration for 14-day quarantine drills, prohibiting non-essential campus visits and conducting temperature scans of their clients.

The City’s Homelessness and Housing Division provided guidance on COVID-19 prevention to the Regional Transit Authority, Amistad Community Health Center, local schools and community organizations.

Staff will continue to monitor the situation and stay in contact with community partners to ensure the CDC and Health District guidelines are followed.
