City to Host MLK Commemorative March and Racial Justice Forum

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the City of Corpus Christi, in partnership with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Corpus Christi Alumnae Chapter, will host the 37th Annual MLK Commemorative March at City Hall on Monday, January 16, at 12:00 p.m.

Prior to the March, the public is invited to attend the annual YWCA Racial Justice Forum beginning at 10:00 a.m. The forum will be held in the City’s Executive Conference facility on the 6th floor of City Hall.

The Commemorative March will begin with an outdoor commencement ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the Staples Street side entrance of City Hall. Following the ceremony, the March will proceed to the Church of the Good Shepherd at 700 South Upper Broadway Street. See the route map below.

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority will provide a free shuttle service between the two locations from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The pickup/drop-off locations will be the Staples Street parking lot at City Hall and the intersection of Park Avenue and South Carancahua Street next to the church.

For the safety of participants, the Corpus Christi Police Department will provide route closure, and motor vehicles will not be permitted in the March procession.
