City Staff Setting Up Shelter

The City of Corpus Christi has opened a shelter at the Greenwood Senior Center, 4040 Greenwood Drive, for residents of a local apartment complex displaced by last night’s severe weather.

High winds damaged roofs of the apartments located in the 2300 block of Joyce Drive leaving 5 occupants without a place to stay.

The group was transported by the Regional Transportation Authority to the Greenwood Senior Center.

The shelter is being operated by American Red Cross volunteers who are providing basic needs including cots, bedding and snacks.

The rest of the 25 apartment residents are staying with family or friends.
