UPDATE: City Reminds Residents Firework Discharge is Prohibited

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) and the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) would like to remind the community that discharging fireworks within the city limits, including the beach area, is prohibited. Violators may face up to a $2000 fine for each opened package of fireworks. If you witness any illegal fireworks being discharged, please call the designated number, 361-886-COPS. It's important to note that 911 should not be used for firework-related complaints.
Below are some safety tips to follow if using fireworks outside city limits:
- Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
- Never allow young children to handle fireworks.
- Older children should use them only under adult supervision.
- Never light them indoors.
- Use them away from people, houses, and flammable material.
- Only light one firework at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting.
- Do not ignite devices in a container.
- Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks.
- Soak unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding.
- Keep a bucket of water nearby to extinguish fireworks that don’t go off or in case of fire.
