City Names New Intergovernmental Relations Director

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi has named Mrs. Tammy Embrey as the new Director of Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) following the retirement of Tom Tagliabue.

A native of Houston, TX and a graduate of Texas A&M University, Mrs. Embrey is moving to Corpus Christi from Washington, D.C., where she spent the past nine years with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, most recently as Senior Legislative Advisor. She spent almost four years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as several years working congressional, statewide and national political campaigns in several states.

The City’s IGR Department is responsible for monitoring state and federal governmental activities, developing legislative programs approved by City Council, managing the City’s federal and state consultants, and coordinating legislative activities with other public and private sector entities and municipal advocacy organizations, such as the National League of Cities and the Texas Municipal League.

“The City is happy to welcome Tammy back to Texas to advocate for our legislative priorities in Austin and Washington,” said interim City Manager Keith Selman. “Tammy’s knowledge of the legislative process and her network of contacts will greatly benefit the City. I’m confident she’ll work well with all departments, community stakeholders and the Coastal Bend legislative delegation.”
