City Manager Recognitions
Two employees were recognized by City Manager Margie C. Rose at a recent Council meeting.
Senior Accountant Jason Gooding recently received his Certified Public Accountant license. To take the CPA exam in Texas, 150 hours of college course work is required, 30 hours must be upper level college accounting courses, and an ethics college course is also required.
The exam itself is made up of four tests, each are four hours long, and must be passed in 18 months to pass the CPA exam.
To become a licensed CPA the candidate must pass the exam and work under a licensed CPA for at least a year.
Gooding has been with the City's Finance Department for three years.
Business Liaison Alyssa Michelle Barrera recently earned an Economic Development Finance Professional certification. It is given to individuals who complete the National Development Council's economic development training. The course includes business credit analysis, real estate financing and loan packaging. Each of the four courses are five days in length and conclude with an exam.
As Business Liaison, Barerra works with City departments to coordinate efforts related to economic development, including the Downtown Reinvestment Zone and the Type "A" Board.
Barrera has been with the City for six years.
