City Council Approves Airport Property Lease Agreement

Will Increase CCIA Service Capacity

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved a lease agreement with Sterling Air Service LLC, a commercial aeronautical service provider at the Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA).

Sterling Air Service is an existing tenant at CCIA and provides pilot and aircraft services for various clients, including Driscoll Children's Hospital. This lease agreement includes multiple locations for hangars, storage, a fuel farm, an apron, parking, and office facilities on the east side of the airport.

With this lease agreement, Sterling Air Service will meet all minimum standards to become CCIA’s second Fixed-Based Operator (FBO). This designation will allow Sterling Air Service Services to sell fuel.

CCIA currently has one FBO, Atlantic Aviation, located on the west side of the airfield. Adding a second FBO will increase the airport’s service capacity and stimulate economic growth at CCIA.

“We are excited about Sterling Air Service’s continued partnership as this FBO is an additional investment to our airport, which will increase competition and improve our facilities,” Mayor Guajardo said.
