City Celebrates Completing One Staples Street Project and Starting Another
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Mayor, City Council, Public Works staff and the public celebrated the completion of Bond 2012 Staples Street Improvement Project and kicked off the Bond 2014 Staples Street project on Friday.
The dual event celebrates just two construction projects out of more than 65 that Engineering Services is currently overseeing throughout the city.
Bond 2012 Staples Street from IH 37 to Morgan Avenue started in August 2015 and completed in September 2017. The $14.3 million construction project included replacing the existing four-lane road with concrete pavement from IH 37 to Comanche Street and asphalt from Comanche Street to Morgan Avenue. Work also included utility upgrades and concrete bus pads.
Bond 2014 Staples Street from Alameda Street to Morgan Avenue includes replacing the four-lane road with asphalt and adding concrete bus pads. The estimated $3.8 million improvement project also includes underground utility upgrades. Construction will start in November and is scheduled for 11 months.
