City Beach Operations Partners with Organization to take Children on Fishing Adventure

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Some local children with disabilities and special needs will soon embark on an exciting fishing adventure. It’s all part of CAST or the “Catch a Special Thrill” organization that has teamed with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department’s Beach Operations to provide some fun in the sun!

CAST is a youth program that encourages children with disabilities and special needs to enjoy the great sport of fishing with their very own volunteer angling buddy. The event that’s expected to attract 50 kids, along with their family members and volunteers, will take place Saturday, April 23, 2016, on the north jetty of Packery Channel, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (During the event, the area will remain open to the public.)

Thanks to numerous sponsors, each child will receive their own rod and reel, a tackle box with supplies, and a t-shirt. The day will conclude with an awards ceremony.
