City Announces the Reopening of Philip Dimitt Fishing Pier

2018 Bond Project Completed

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi announces the reopening of Phillip Dimitt Municipal Fishing Pier, located at 101 Jester Street. The pier is ready for residents and visitors to enjoy recreational fishing and the outdoors.

“I am excited to announce the reopening of the pier that has been closed since 2018. The community supported the 2018 Bond Project and now the pier is better than ever,” stated Council Member Greg Smith.

Pier improvements include the addition of LED lighting for night fishing, new benches and fish washing stations. Renovations to the pier include minor structural member replacement, new floorboards, and a new guardrail. The total project value is $480,000 in Bond 2018 funding for the pier renovation and improvements.

A portion of the parking lot has been temporarily fenced off while repairs are made to the parking lot. City staff anticipates the repairs to be completed by late summer 2021.
