Change in Water Disinfectant Begins

Northwest Corpus Christi First To See Change

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Mayor Nelda Martinez and Deputy City Manager Margie C. Rose provided the latest update on the boil water advisory today at 2 p.m. A very positive and proactive meeting occurred this morning with the regional leadership of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The group was able to understand some of the issues and start to build a more productive dialogue.

The water disinfectant change began at Noon at the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment plant. Northwest Corpus Christi in the Calallen and Annaville areas should begin to experience the change as early as this afternoon and evening.

Residents could potentially experience discolored water when the disinfectant reaches your neighborhood. Please flush the water for 5 minutes to see if the problem corrects. If not and the discolor remains after flushing please contact the Customer Call Center at 826-2489. Customers could notice a change in taste or smell with the alternative disinfectant. Chilling the water in the refrigerator or stirring the water can help diminish taste or smell issues. The next update will occur at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016.
