CDC Authorizes Booster Shots for All COVID-19 Vaccines

Fully Vaccinated Individuals can now Mix and Match Doses

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued guidance for booster shots for those fully vaccinated with any of the three COVID-19 vaccines. The City of Corpus Christi - Nueces County Public Health District will administer authorized booster shots at all vaccination sites beginning today.

For individuals who received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at six months or more after their initial series:

  • 65 years and older
  • Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
  • Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions (see list below)
  • Age 18+ who work or live-in high-risk settings

For those who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, booster shots are recommended for anyone 18 years of age and older and for those fully vaccinated for at least two months.

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some may prefer the vaccine type they originally received or may choose to get a different booster.
