CCFD Fights Brush Fire on the City’s Southside
Several Intersections Were Without Power
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) responded to a brush fire near the AEP-Texas substation on Holly Street near Staples Street earlier today. The fire call came in at 2:23 p.m., and the fire was contained at 3:39 p.m.
An AEP spokesman says the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. AEP also reported a number of power outages in several neighborhoods. Power was restored as of 6:20 p.m.
Several City intersections were also without power. The Public Works Department utilized a battery backup system to allow the traffic signals to continue operating. Power has now been restored to all intersections.
