CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office advises residents and business starting at 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, the following traffic control plan will be implemented for the Bond 2012 Alameda Street improvement project:

  • Alameda Street, between Louisiana Avenue and Cole Street, will be converted to ONE WAY northbound.
  • Southbound Alameda Street will be CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC at the Ayers Street/Staples Street intersection. Only local southbound vehicular traffic will be allowed in the closure, and at Cole Street, will be forced to turn left or right.
  • Northbound Alameda Street vehicular traffic will shift to the newly constructed pavement on the east side of Alameda Street starting at Louisiana Avenue.
  • Southbound Alameda Street, local vehicular traffic, will shift to the newly constructed pavement on the west side of Alameda Street starting at the Ayers Street/Staples Street intersection.

The city reminds drivers to use caution when driving near the work zone and follow detour signs. Motorists should expect delays and if possible, seek alternate routes or avoid the area. Access to local driveways and side streets will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
