CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On November 8, 2016, Corpus Christi voters approved Proposition No. 1, adopting a Type B sales tax to replace the portion of the Type A sales tax that expires in 2018.

The City is in the process of establishing the Corpus Christi B Corporation (“Type B Corporation”), a seven-member board that will administer the proceeds of the Type B sales tax to fund economic development, affordable housing and street repair projects.

The City Secretary’s Office is currently accepting applications for two positions on the Corporation’s Board of Directors, who will be appointed by the City Council.  A Director must be at least 18 years of age, and a resident and registered voter of the City.

For more information and to apply, visit the City of Corpus Christi’s website at www.cctexas.com; hover over GOVERNMENT; and select Boards and Commissions.  For additional assistance, contact Tamera Franklin at (361) 826-3893 or via e-mail at tamerar@cctexas.com.

Applications are due by November 7.  The City Council expects to consider the appointments at its November 14 regular meeting.

(Note: All individuals considered for appointment by the City Council to a board, commission, committee, or corporation must have an application on file in the Office of the City Secretary not later than 5:00 p.m. on the seventh calendar day before the date appointments are considered by City Council.)
