CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) is preparing for a mock hurricane on Wednesday, June 12th. It’s part of an air emergency evacuation drill involving CCIA and the Texas Air National Guard.
CCIA will receive mock patients who will arrive on military transport aircrafts piloted by the Texas Air National Guard. During the exercise, the volunteer evacuees will be seen by the Texas Department Patient Reception Team, whose job during a disaster is to receive, account for and provide short term care to patients. The exercise will also give CCIA staff a chance to practice and evaluate plans for evacuating and sheltering people in the event of severe weather.
