Weekly Road Closures July 27 – August 2

NOTE: ALL CLOSURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER, EMERGENCY WORK, OR OTHER CURRENT EVENTS.

Update – Flato Road, Bates Road to Agnes Street (E15110, Bond 2014)

Construction progresses on Flato Road as contractors continue working on installing underground utilities along this stretch of road. Beginning Tuesday, July 23, 2019, Flato Road will be ONE WAY southbound only between Agnes Street and Bates Road. Construction warning signs and detour signs will guide traffic around the closure.  Northbound traffic on Flato Road at the Bear Lane intersection will be open to local traffic only.

Bates Road will be closed at Flato Road to all traffic. Traffic needing to travel eastbound on Bates Road to get to Flato Road will continue to follow the detour in place to guide them around the closure. Bates Road, between North Padre Island Drive and Flato Road, will be open to local traffic only.

New – Antelope Street (Abel’s Machine Movers)

Beginning Friday, July 26, 2019, thru Sunday, July 28, 2019, contractors will be setting up a crane on Antelope Street to remove chillers from the American Bank Plaza.  During this time Antelope Street will be temporally closed to traffic between Tancahua Street and Carancahua Street. A detour route will be in place to guide motorists around the worksite.

New – Southern Minerals Road (BBG Services)

Beginning Friday, July 26, 2019, thru Sunday, July 28, 2019, contractors will be conducting utility work on Southern Minerals Road and will require a temporary road closure approximately 500-feet south of Leopard Street. A detour route will be in place to move thru traffic around the temporary closure.

New – Third Street (Graco Construction)

Beginning Thursday, July 25, 2019, contractors will be conducting utility work on Third Street requiring a temporary left lane closure. Work is estimated to take 4 days to complete.  

New – Greenwood Drive (AEP)

Beginning Wednesday, July 31, 2019, contractors for AEP will require a temporary lane closure on southbound Greenwood Drive between SPID and Silverberry Drive. Temporary lane closures are estimated to last 3 days.

New – Everhart Road (AEP)

Beginning Tuesday, July 30, 2019, contractors for AEP will require a temporary lane closure on northbound Everhart Road between Saratoga Boulevard and Lake Shore Drive. Temporary lane closures are estimated to last 3 days.

Staples Street – Kostoryz Road to Brawner Parkway (E12095, Bond 2012)

Traffic traveling northbound and southbound on Staples Street will continue as two lanes between Kostoryz Road and Texan Trail.

Texan Trail will continue as two lanes through the Staples Street intersection.

Kostoryz Road will continue with one left turn lane during this phase.

Staples Street (AEP)

AEP contractors will continue performing utility work on Staples Street between Cunningham Street and Cott Street. During this time, Staples Street northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic and the center turning lane will be closed to traffic. Temporary lane closures are estimated to end on August 2, 2019.

Gollihar Road – Weber Road to Staples Street (E13087, Bond 2014)

Traffic traveling westbound on Gollihar Road will continue being reduced to one lane and continue following the detour in place guiding them around the Gollihar Road/ Weber Road intersection closure.  

Traffic traveling eastbound on Gollihar Road will continue following the detour in place to guide them around the Gollihar Road/ Weber Road intersection closure. Gollihar Road, between Carrol Lane and the intersection closure, will be open to local traffic only.

Northbound and southbound Weber Road will continue as two lanes through the Gollihar intersection. Motorists should be aware of the left-turn restriction at this intersection.

Holly Road (AEP)

Through the end of August, contractors will continue performing utility work on Holly Road between Lexington Road and Ennis Joslin Road. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. Flaggers will assist motorists around the work zone during construction hours.

Beach Avenue (Rock Engineering)

The contractor will be performing Geotechnical Soil Borings on Beach Avenue between East Causeway Access Road to Gulf Breeze. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. Flaggers will assist motorists around the work zone during construction hours. This work has tentatively been scheduled to start August 5.

McArdle Road (Rock Engineering)

The contractor will be performing Geotechnical Soil Borings on McArdle Road between Kostoryz Road to Carroll Lane. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. Flaggers may be present to assist motorists around the work zone during construction hours. This work has tentatively been scheduled to start August 5.

Airline Road (Rock Engineering)

The contractor will be performing Geotechnical Soil Borings on Airline Road between South Padre Island Drive to McArdle Road. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. This work has tentatively been scheduled to start August 5.

Wooldridge Road (Rock Engineering)

The contractor will be performing Geotechnical Soil Borings on Wooldridge Road between Everhart Road and Cascade Drive. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. Flaggers may be present to assist motorists around the work zone during construction hours. This work has tentatively been scheduled to start August 5.

Wooldridge Road (AEP)

Through the end of August, contractors will continue performing utility work on Woodridge Road between Las Brisas Street and N. Oso Parkway. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. Flaggers will assist motorists around the work zone during construction hours.

Rodd Field Road – Saratoga Boulevard to Yorktown Boulevard (E15112, Bond 2014)

The Rodd Field Road and Yorktown Boulevard intersection remain closed as roadway construction continues.

Traffic traveling eastbound or westbound Yorktown Boulevard will continue through the Rodd Field Road / Airline Road extension detour. Motorists should be aware of the all-way stop at this intersection.

Traffic approaching the Airline Road/Slough Road and Rodd Field Road intersection will experience various lane closures as underground utility construction on the east side of Rodd Field Road progresses north towards Saratoga Boulevard.

Carroll Lane – McArdle Road to Houston Street (E13097, Bond 2014)

Carroll lane continues as one way southbound between Brawner Parkway and Gollihar Road.

Traffic traveling northbound will continue following the detour in place to guide them around the Carroll Lane one way only limits.

Yorktown Boulevard – Everhart Road to Staples Street (E130196, Bond 2014)

Construction is in its final stage. Various lane closures will continue along this stretch of Yorktown Boulevard as final punch list items are addressed. One of the punch list items is to put in operation the traffic signal at the intersection of Yorktown Boulevard and Everhart Road, which will happen in the coming weeks. The contractor estimates 5 to 6 weeks to complete the other punch list items on this project.

North Beach Area Road Improvements & Area Beautification (E12127/ E12129, Bond 2012)

Construction on North Shoreline Boulevard continues with various lane closures within the work zone. An updated construction timeline has construction completion set for late August or early September.

Old Robstown Road – Highway 44 to Leopard Street (E13098, Bond 2014)

Old Robstown Road is reduced to one lane, in the southbound direction, between Up River Road and Highway 44 (Agnes Street).  Motorists at the SH 44 intersection, seeking to go northbound along Old Robstown Road, are encouraged to follow the detour signs around the work zone.

South Alameda Street – Ayers Street to Louisiana Avenue (E12091, Bond 2012)

As final punch list items are addressed, various daily lane closure is possible along this stretch of Alameda Street, depending on the contractor’s operations.
