Water Director Appointment Announced

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – City Manager Margie C. Rose announced the appointment of Clarence Wittwer as Water Director for the City of Corpus Christi earlier today. “Mr. Wittwer brings extensive utility experience to Corpus Christi along with having rare Class “A” licenses for both water and wastewater operations,” said City Manager Margie C. Rose. “He understands our most recent water issues and is ready to lead the Water Department in facing those challenges," add Ms. Rose.

Mr. Wittwer has over 25 years of experience in the utilities industry. He has managed water and wastewater treatment plants of various sizes in both the private and public sector. Mr. Wittwer has held positions in Seabrook, South Houston, Alvin, Baytown and most recently serving as the Deputy Assistant Director with the City of Houston. His military service includes the Army National Guard and Texas State Guard.

Mr. Wittwer holds multiple certifications in utility operations, emergency management and shelter/mass casualty management. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, along with other educational accomplishments including a Leadership Development Program with C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. He was honored in 2004 with both the President’s Volunteer Service Award (President George W. Bush) and the Texas Water Utilities Association Leadership Award.

“I am looking forward to helping Corpus Christi make great strides in water operations,” said Mr. Clarence Wittwer. “There is much work already underway and together we can achieve a superior water rating for Corpus Christi once again,” added Wittwer.
