U.S. Senator Cornyn to Join Mayor Martinez in 4th of July Big Bang Parade
The Mayor’s 4th of July Big Bang Celebration has officially started and the holiday weekend is packed with local events including the Bay Jammin’ Cinema Series, the Big Bang Kid Zone, Food Truck Court and a parade with an impressive line up.
This year’s parade will have a special guest riding next to Mayor Nelda Martinez. U.S. Senator John Cornyn will join the Mayor and more than 20 other dignitaries will be waving to the crowds as they celebrate Independence Day in Corpus Christi.
“Senator Cornyn is a great friend of Corpus Christi and we are honored he will be joining us in celebrating the 4th of July,” Mayor Martinez said.
During his visit, Sen. Cornyn also will throw out the first pitch at the Hooks baseball game Monday against the Tulsa Drillers.
“The Fourth of July is a day for celebration and spending time with family and friends,” Sen. Cornyn said. “I look forward to coming back to Corpus to take part in the Big Bang Parade, cheer on the Hooks, and visit with civic and community leaders to get an update on the region’s priorities.”
The Flint Hills Parade starts at 11:30 a.m. along with the Linebarger Kid Zone, and Food Truck Court. The H-E-B Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to use the RTA Park and Ride, which will run from 10 a.m. to midnight.
