Thanksgiving Cooking Tips for FOG Prevention

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Did you know most sewer clogs that happen during the holidays are caused by FOG or Fats, Oils and Grease? FOG down the drain means sewer backups, costly repairs, and it can harm the environment.

All cooking oils, butter, dairy products, bacon fat and cooking grease should be absorbed with a paper towel and tossed in the trash. You can also collect Fats, Oils, and Grease in a grease container, cool it, scrape it, and trash it.

To prevent Fats, Oils and Grease from clogging our wastewater lines, the City will be reaching out to the public with information at area HEB stores on Saturday, November 23 from 10 am to 1 pm. Staff will give out a limited number of free grease containers at HEB stores on Saratoga Boulevard, Port Avenue and in Flour Bluff.
