La Volla Creek Public Meeting

Join the City of Corpus Christi for an update on the Flood Mitigation Project at La Volla Creek

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi is holding a public meeting on January 23, 2020, at 6 p.m. at the Greenwood Senior Center (4040 Greenwood Dr.) to provide updates on the La Volla Creek Community Development and Revitalization application. This meeting will allow residents to ask questions and voice concerns regarding the improvement plan.

In January 2019, the City Council approved Resolution 031647, authorizing submittal of grant applications to the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for a Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery related to post-Harvey improvements.

In December 2019, the city received approval from the GLO to proceed with a proposed project of constructing an approximate 1,146 acre-feet (373,425,246 gallons) detention pond near the La Volla Creek and Los Robles Street. The proposed project will mitigate the flooding in the La Volla Creek area.

As the scope of work on this project has evolved, City staff wants to be sure that the community and neighborhoods directly impacted by this project are informed. Residents of the Calle Las Colonias and Molina neighborhoods are encouraged to attend. All residents of Corpus Christi are invited to this meeting to learn more about the project and offer comments.

City staff and the design engineer on the project will present a brief description of the new scope of work and answer questions.
