Lake Corpus Christi Water Releases Increasing
Downstream Flooding Expected
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX -The City of Corpus Christi is working closely with emergency management officials and local partners regarding the increased water flows entering the Lake Corpus Christi reservoir.
The first flood wave has reached Lake Corpus Christi and based on current releases, impacts below the reservoir will result in major flooding in the Bluntzer area. Moderate flooding is predicted for the Calallen area near the river, including County Road 73, and Hazel Bazemore and Labonte Parks. Please take precautions to protect personal safety and property.
City officials continued to rely on experts from the National Weather Service and River Prediction Center to help balance the integrity of the Wesley Seale Dam with downstream flooding. Citizens can also view the hydrologic models from the National Weather Service at https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=ewx.
The City will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust any water releases as necessary to protect property along Lake Corpus Christi, the Wesley Seale Dam and along the Nueces River downstream. Citizens can sign up for emergency notifications at www.reversealert.org.
