Pollinator Playscape to Open at Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve

Photo Opportunity on July 13 at 8:30 a.m.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve staff would like to invite the media out for a photo opportunity of its new Pollinator Playscape on Friday, July 13, from 8:30am – 9:30am, located at 2446 N. Oso Parkway (map). This project includes a water feature, pollinator plants, benches, hopscotch, a barefoot path, log hops and more!

Our Pollinator Playscape embodies the Preserve’s mission to help people learn to appreciate and live with local wildlife. We created this space for younger children to play, but also for everyone to be able to watch wildlife. Already we have seen birds, butterflies, bees, and other insects come to check out the water and the flowers. Plants in the feature are either native or on the Texas Superstars plant list, which means they survive well in our landscape on little water. The sound of flowing water is relaxing for humans and a great draw for wildlife that have to survive in our hot and dry conditions.

We hope visitors learn about the importance of pollinating species, get a chance to look up close at caterpillars and birds, and how to have fun playing in our local environment.
