Teacher Professional Development this Summer
Join the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Our Partners for Exciting Learning Opportunities
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve is involved with three FREE professional development opportunities for teachers this summer. These workshops are a chance for teachers to visit area nature sites to get first-hand knowledge of our local environments, as well as acquire new curriculum and supplies for their classrooms.
Watersheds 2 Wetlands workshop will be held July 10 - 12, at the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve. This workshop will give teachers 20 CPE hours as they learn about Oso Creek and how to use local examples to teach watershed concepts. The two-and-a-half-day workshop will combine classroom labs, a day of field trips to various sites along the creek, and discussions aimed at informing our community about water issues. For more information about this program, contact Caleb Harris at (361) 826-3947 or visit www.osopreserve.com. Registration is now open at http://register.ccparkandrec.com.
Our Education Coordinator Caleb Harris will help with one day of the Coastal Bend Environmental Science Alumni workshop (June 26 - 29) teaching the TPWD Angler Education Curriculum. This workshop at the Nueces Delta Preserve is hosted by the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP) and is a chance for educators to be introduced to the Nueces River system and other partner sites throughout the Coastal Bend. More information can be found at http://nuecesdeltapreserve.org.
The Teachers on the Estuary (TOTE) workshop is being hosted by the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve July 24 - 26. This workshop will partner the Reserve, the CBBEP and the Preserve to bring environmental and estuarine science into the classrooms of middle and high school teachers. One day of the three-day workshop will be spent at the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve. For more information, please contact Kristin Evans at (361) 749-3152 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
