Young Accordionists Invited to Compete in Big Squeeze Talent Showcase

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Young accordionists across the Coastal Bend are invited to show off their skills at the Texas Folklife Big Squeeze Talent Showcase and Auditions at the Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive.

On Saturday, March 3, young musicians can audition in various genres of accordion music including Conjunto, Zydeco, Cajun, Polka and more. Finalists will be invited to perform at the Big Squeeze Finals at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin on Saturday, April 21.

Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. with the competition slated for 2:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to show their support at this free event. Grammy winners Grupo Imagen will perform and Rick Garcia of Hacienda Records will serve as master of ceremonies. Official rules, age categories and other information are available here.
