Platicas Musicales Spotlights the Beauty and Tradition of Bolero

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The rhythm and romance of bolero will take center stage for this month’s edition of Platicas Musicales scheduled for Wednesday, February 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive.

Local music historian Manuel Ayala will present the history of bolero, a genre of Latin music which has Spanish and Cuban origins. The discussion will demonstrate how this romantic dance music influenced the performers and songwriters of South Texas. There will also be live performances from Dueto Romance and Letty y Oscar.
