Storm Water Division Awarded for Innovation

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The City of Corpus Christi’s Storm Water Division has added two national awards to its long list of achievements. The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has presented the City of Corpus Christi Storm Water division with the Gold Level Recognition in Innovation and the Gold Level Recognition in Program Management awards.

These accolades celebrate administrators of municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s) which perform beyond regulatory requirements in a manner that is both technically effective and financially efficient.

As part of its award-winning tradition, the Storm Water division of the Utilities Department has successfully implemented several programs. These include the Inlet Basket Program designed to protect the bays from debris and the FOG (fats, oils, and grease) prevention program which educates the public about how to prevent the discharge of grease and other fats into the storm drains, as well as the Inlet Marker program, and several pollution prevention activities.
