Project Aimed at Proper Boat Disposal
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - A new partnership between the City of Corpus Christi, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Texas General Land Office is aimed at properly disposing of boats. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) is taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7 through Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Laguna Madre Wastewater Facility, 201 Jester Street.
The service is free and offers boats owners a voluntary method of disposing of their run-down vessels in a safe, environmentally-conscious way. Abandoning or sinking an unwanted vessel does not only hurt the environment, it is also illegal.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will verify if the vessel qualifies for disposal and the Texas General Land Office will sponsor the removal of its hazardous materials (fuel, oil, batteries). The City of Corpus Christi will then transport each vessel for disposal.
