Library hosts Latin Grammy Nominee

Fifth Annual La Música del Sur de Tejas/The Music of South Texas Induction

A “Best Norteño Album” Grammy Award, a “Best Album Regional Mexican” Billboard Latin Music Award, a “Best Song of the Year Award” from Tejano Music Awards (TMA), and, most recently, a nomination for a Latin Grammy Award for Por Cielo y Tierra.  After countless awards and nominations, what more is in store for Michael Salgado?

La Música del Sur de Tejas/The Music of South Texas is inducting Michael Salgado into the photo gallery located at Ben F. McDonald Public Library.  He is the sole honoree for the fifth annual celebration of Tejano music achievement.

The mission of La Música del Sur de Tejas/The Music of South Texas photo gallery is to display the history of Tejano music pioneers.  Salgado is credited with bringing Norteño music to a younger generation.  The 45 year-old is celebrating twenty years of musical success.

Salgado’s exceptional ability to play the accordion left-handed gave him the well-earned nickname “El Zurdo De Oro.”

The Fifth Annual La Música del Sur de Tejas/The Music of South Texas induction will be Sunday, October 16 at McDonald Public Library.  Food Trucks will open at noon.  The ceremony is set for 2 p.m.  Music will be provided by Los Hermanos Banda. The exhibit is partially funded by a grant from Humanities Texas.
