"Play-for-All" Playground Opens at Salinas Park

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - A unique playground that provides a little something for everyone opened recently at Salinas Park. The outdoor play area called, "play-for-all," is inclusive and provides opportunities for persons of all abilities to play together.
There are two zip-lines; one that a person can hang on to and another that a person in a wheel chair can transfer onto a suspended chair. There is also a cozy cove for children with autism who may wish to seek out a quiet spot if things get too overwhelming for them. The Sway Fun Glider allows a person in a wheelchair to glide back and forth alongside of their friends and family.
The playground, which cost approximately $300,000, was funded by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in partnership with the Housing and Community Development Department.
The park is located at 1354 Airport Road.
