It’s Time Texas Community Challenge
Mayor Nelda Martinez and the Mayor’s Fitness Council (MFC) encourage everyone to join their quest for Corpus Christi to be the fittest city in the State of Texas by entering the It’s Time Texas Community Challenge. Register today at www.ittcommunitychallenge.com and help us take on the biggest cities in the State!
The Community Challenge is the only statewide competition of its kind and is designed to provide an easy and fun way for communities to celebrate healthy living. Communities are grouped into categories according to population size. Using the IT’S TIME TEXAS website, communities earn points by participating in a variety of activities such as posting “healthy selfies,” taking healthy pledges and tracking physical activity. The Challenge runs from January 1 to March 31, 2016.
The MFC will be partnering with the Marina Arts District and its February Harbor Bridge Walk to host Corpus Christi’s Community Challenge Hometown Event. Join us at Heritage Park on Sunday, February 7 at 8:30 am to enjoy a walk across our biggest landmark with 400 of your closest friends.
“We’ve been in the running to take the prize for the last three years and I think 2016 is going to be our year,” said Mayor Martinez. “It’s our time Corpus Christi and we can only get to the top if we work together so be sure to register for the Challenge today!”
Follow Mayor Martinez and the MFC on Twitter @FitMayorCC as we make our way through the challenge and rack up points by eating healthy, logging our workout routines and encouraging everyone in Corpus Christi to get fit! And don’t forget to include #CommunityChallenge and #CorpusChristi on all of your posts and tweets throughout the competition.
The top cities in their respective category receive a $1,200 grant for school health initiatives, trophy and a city banner. While you’re on the Community Challenge website, take time to view the video each of the big city mayors made to stoke the competitive spirit of their respective communities.
