Health District Program Receives $50,000 Boost
The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District was awarded a $50,000 grant after it recently received the gold level recognition by the Texas Healthy Communities Program.
The health district must meet eight assessments including access to healthy food, promoting physical activity, maintain healthy school and work programs and promote health care to receive a gold rating.
In previous years, the City-County Health District was named a Heart Healthy City, and last year the district received a silver rating. This is the first time the Health District has received a gold rating.
The District focuses on school, employee and community programs such as tobacco cessation and public service campaigns for stroke and heart attack awareness.
