City Volunteer Continues Childhood Dream at Airport
Name: Otto Stedronsky
Age: 75 years old
Occupation: Volunteers at CCIA through the Parks and Recreation Department's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
History: Otto was born in Chicago and on weekends he would ride his bike to nearby Midway Airport to look at the planes. He always knew he was going to work in the airline industry.
What is your role at CCIA? I assist passengers with information, directions and transportation that's available to them.
Why volunteer? I was a group planner for American Airlines for 41 years and needed to find something to do.
What brought you to Corpus Christi? I was working at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago and got transferred to Dallas. I had visited Corpus Christi on vacation and decided to retire here.
What do you get out of volunteering? Helping people is my most valuable reward.
Kind Words: "Otto is very generous with his time and is so helpful to the visitors who come through the airport," CCIA Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator Kim Bridger-Hunt said. "We wish we could clone him. He works alongside other airport ambassadors providing invaluable service to this community. The one-on-one contact they have with visitors means the world to us."
