City Temporarily Suspends Once-A-Week Watering Restriction
The Corpus Christi water system has experienced low chlorine levels resulting in a localized water boil advisory as a requirement of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The lower than normal chlorine levels can naturally occur as a result of the high summer temperatures and low water usage. In an effort to improve the chlorine levels and move water through the water system more quickly, the City of Corpus Christi is temporarily suspending the once-a-week irrigation watering restriction called for in the drought management plan.
Effective immediately, residents in Corpus Christi can use irrigation watering any day of the week as long as no sprinkler irrigation occurs between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The temporary suspension will increase water flow throughout the water system and help chlorine levels return to normal.
The City of Corpus Christi customer call center will open Saturday and Sunday from 3 – 8 p.m. to answer questions from residents at (361) 826-CITY (2489) and the water hotline (361) 826-1600 is available during normal business hours.
