City Maintains State Plumbing License Guidelines and Permit Requirements

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX –The State Legislature did not renew the agency that issues plumbing licenses to operate in Texas. The agency is expected to stop its operation in September 2020. The City is engaging with the State to get more information on next steps. Plumbers seeking a permit from the Development Services Department or doing work in Corpus Christi are still required to have a valid and current Texas plumbing license.

“Permit requirements remain in effect that require licensing for plumbers and inspectors,” said Nina Nixon-Mendez, Director of Development Services. “The health and safety of the public must be maintained to the highest possible level. We are researching options to replace the state licensing program and remind residents and plumbing contractors that they need a valid license to operate in the City of Corpus Christi.”
